Tanamera postnatal set - checked! & the late night creativity

The set arrived yesterday!
*I need to drive out as the sender could not pass the security check*

I'm loving the packaging!
The design looks so eco friendly!

So when I opened it, I saw this binder and the manual

The manual.

The item that I bought is from :
I received 11 of the items, plus one extra VCO, for rm390.
I heard and read great reviews about this postnatal set that I'm sold.
So far I'm now using the VCO to aid delivery.
Could only update once I deliver, whether I tear or not!

*Was so freaking busy last night making 7 dulang hantaran for a friend of hubby as today is his engagement.*

The 7 dulang (nigh time + phone camera is the worst)

One of the close up. (makeup set)

I did these for less than RM100!
The flowers, the alas, and the polystyrene is all around RM95.
He gave me his own dulang and those items, so I've just create this out of 2 hours mark.
We start at 10pm and finished nearly at 12am.
Will update the nicer version later on. :D
* Hubby couldn't believe I could do this. XD *

November is here, again.

A year ago, I'm probably busy tying up lose end, making last minutes call, making last minute DIY, making sure everything is ready for my wedding day. Fast forward one year later, I'm pregnant with our first child, we moved house to a more comfortable and nicer house, we have one car, we survive few tragic accidents and bad news, and move forward as we received blessings and love for everyone else.

Nearly a year!

I find that life could be strange and beautiful at times, and depressing and gloomy at the other time. I'm making a lot of DIYs at home, and I haven't had time to upload or blog much nowadays as I'm more busy than ever. My projects currently including DIY hand bouquet, DIY hantaran for my bff, DIY blanket for the baby, and actually a secret gift for a friend. Hopefully I could finish everything in time. Amin.
The inspiration~

I bought a rocker chair yesterday, so I could rock our baby to sleep, cradling in rocker just like how I remember I used to be rocked in the chair. And I bought the rocker above to entertain the baby when I'm busy doing something else.

I'm now decorating the baby's nursery with a very small budget. The inspiration is the baby rocker, I'm so loving the green and blue combination. For the baby's furniture (the angry bird ones), I'm now trying to put a matching wallpaper (blue and green leaves on black paper) on the door, so it matches with others. I'm also making a mobile from my wedding pom poms and lanterns. And will be making the bed sheet as well as the bed bumper. My gosh I have lotsa DIY to do! I certainly have to find time to take pictures, and upload and blog more! *My November wish*

The lanterns (bought from wedding shop) and the pink hanging basket that I bought from Ikea

I'm loving this color combo!

Walimatul-urus untuk hantaran RM10 000 untuk 700 orang/ Budget breakdown under RM10000 for 700 people

Hey you.
My friends ask me to put up my wedding budget as they love my wedding and wanted to know how much is the budgeting.
Since I'm doing a lot of diy-ing and not doing the traditional way and in a very tight time frame, a few blessed people help and sponsored my day so this makes my budget more manageable.
*Special Thank You for your aid and blessed you people!*

My concern is, I don't want to spend too much money on wedding.
I want a wedding that simple, but filled with love, mingle with my friends and families.
I want roses and purple background.
I wand canopy for bed and dais.
I want engagement and nikah and walimatulurus in one day so that I don't need to plan a few times.
I want to save for my future!
And I think most of wedding stuff are gibberish, made hyped up for people who wants moneyyyy.

Btw,
this figure definitely not including the 7-9 trays of hantarans.(actually it were 5-7 but he add another 2 trays a day before. yikes!*
My hantaran or gift are things we wanted, and so we bought long before the wedding talk (some) and we bought according to our preference, and it's not included in

The cost breakdown::

The Food
Menu : Nasi jagung (my fav), Ayam masak sambal kicap , Paceri nanas
RM2500 for 500 people (but 700+ came, including children and all the food finished, except rice and lemang, but the rice we gave to people who breed chickens and lemang we ate it ourself)
Mom will buy the ingredients, her friend will cook for us, at whatever fees we wanted to pay. How sweet is he?

Lemang & Rendang - RM350 Lemang, Rendang (RM400), both sponsored by my first sister

Makan damai - Free (around rm300)
Second sis sponsoring seafood stuff (however this will probably be at night, with fam members only)

Tips :
1. find a really great cook (a friend or relative ) so that you spend less on food, especially made by caterers. I found a really great lemang maker who work at my dad's place.
2. Get more for lesser menu.
I only have rice and 2 dishes, but all raved about it and asking for recipe!
3. Do it buffet style, so that no food gone wasted.
4. Make a simple dessert, loved by all.
My mom made a agar agar santan, which was finished by the end of the day.
5. Ask your relative to bring cakes, cut it and make it a dessert too.
My aunt bought 6 sponge cake from a small cakes shop, and we cut it and put toothpick to make it easy to eat.
6. I excluded makan damai during the day, as I wanted all my families to dine together.
It was different from usual, but at least I can get everyone eat and get to know each other. And you can afford more expensive food for this.
7. Make a shorter walimatulurus.
I made it around 12-3, and most of my friends came before 2pm and even though people still come at 4pm, the quantity is too small and they get extra favor bags too!
8. Expect the unexpected.
The rendang that we wanted could not make it as he's sick. So my sis searched in Mudah and find one who's willing to make a 15kg rendang.

The Favors

- Hankie for men: Free (259 unit, my dad gave me)
- Hankie for women - RM0.35 a unit, I bought 360, around 100+ (the saleslady gave me special  discount!)

The smaller one (purple and pink) for woman n my friends, and the bigger (pink, yellow, blue and green) for parent's friends and man.

- Candles for women - rm9.90 for 36 unit, sponsored by first sister, around 600++ unit. Gave 2 for 1 box
(200+)

-Koko Jelly, 6packet, each around 150+ unit in one packet, but no idea how much, Mom sponsored this too.

-Jelly for kids-around 200 units, so I did in a white cloth to hold it with the koko jelly. Mom sponsored this too.

-Box for men, rm10 for 5 packet, containing 250 boxes.

-Box for women, rm 108 ( rm9 x 12 packet, each packet have 30 boxes)
Box for women, with hankie and 2 aromatherapy candles

- Nikah gift, one box (50 pieces) of hanging love, inside got purple and silver hersheys chocolates with koko jelly
The hanging bunga telur

For the favors bag, I'm using brown paper bag, and print 5 different design and I only printed out 300 or so, cause that was the first amount of people coming, my dad said, but it changed to 500, so I bought extra brown bag, which I only staple the ribbon as the handle.

Ribbons : rm4, and I think I bought around 12 or something
Brown paper bag : RM3.50 for 100, I bought 7 so (RM24.50)

The favors.

Design one

Design two

Design three.

There's another two design. I'm not sure I still have it or not. :)

The Bunga telur
 Free
I wasn't keen on this, but my second sis was going to do dip flowers in purple with a white telur masin, she made about 100 pieces. So, hey its free! Sponsored by my second sister and brother in law.

Tips :
1. Research and be creative!
I wanted something cute and different, so I made my own design, and printed it out and staples to the favor bag. I fall in love with brown bag because of its simplicity and cheap! So I just add extra step, print and cut, buy some ribbons, and walla!
For the candles, I went to Ayer Hitam and bought boxes and hankies to fit in my theme.
People raved about it, saying how unique and talented I am. Even though mom did not agree at first, she was beaming as her associates praise her. :p
I find foods at wholesale stores which will sell for much less, and affordable too!
2. Compromise.
I know a lot of obstacle. My parents said my ideas were too different, and no one did it before, and I said, it's my wedding, I do it my way. So, I let them worry about food  (mom and dad) and canopy (dad), I'll worry bout the rest. It turns out find, and at the end, its your wedding!
3. Ask for help.
I am known in family that I will not ask for help. But I told them, I don't want presents, so they sponsored some things and others. My first sis bought candles. Even though it's kinda weird, it does not fit into my ideas, but I went to buy stuff to fit it in, just right. Whatever people gives you, be gracious and think of ways to fit it in your wedding.
4. Don't sweat the small stuff.
Did you realized I misspelled the Live the life you're dreamed?
People don't notice my bed's canopy kinda of crooked.
People's don't notice the small venue, they said how sweet.
People don't notice my crown was made by some cheap crystal tree.
People don't notice the food was in small quantity, they said it was yummy.
I don't want to be a bridezilla.
People don't realize it.

So,whatever.
The important thing is people enjoy it, and it feels great to see people that I haven't see in a while.
Enjoy the wedding!
5. Find things to reuse.
My dad has an extra hankie during my second sister wedding, so I reuse those for my favors.

The Dress

Engagement dress - RM150
Mom sponsor this cause she fall in love with it. :)
The engagement dress

Nikah dress - RM150
I saw it during Raya sales at Kota. Found out the same baju kurung is RM350 at Angsana. Grr

The nikah dress
Scarf, Veil and accessory
- Inner : RM25
- Veil : Net : RM3.90 x 2m = RM7.80
          : Lace : RM7.90 x 4m = RM31.60
Brooch : RM5
Crown : RM 3.90 ( I used two, so RM 7.80)
(I'm buying extra, so you probably need more or less)

The veil.

-Mom gave me her sparkly bracelet to wear during engagement.

Makeup  - RM200 (foundation, compact powder, blah blah)
Second sis wants to sponsor, but I think I'll manage this :) I'm doing the DIY route, yes, a lot of people say this is stressing, but am not gonna heavily made up, so I guess its okay.

The make up, by me.  :p

Tips :
1. Find a dress you'll love, or can reuse.
Mine was not a wedding dress, it was more for raya. But it have sparkly laces which I adore, so I bought it. It was a bit big, so I alter it.
2. DIY.
I made my own veil. Which was bloodyyy easy. not even 6 hours spend on this baby. And I loveee it! I made my own crown and did my own makeup too.
3. Limit the accessory.
As my dress and veil are very heavily designed, I only use a crown which was twisted from a crystal tree and a bracelet my mom made me wore 10 minutes before the engagement.
4. Do your own makeup if you're confident.
I did my make up everyday, and I don't want a heavy makeup, just add a new features to highlight.
5. Reuse.
I use the same scarf for engagement and nikah. Easy. :)
6. Find an alternative.
I don't want to buy a crown just to use it one time only. So, it was an accidental idea. As I unhooked it, it looks so good, that I put it on my head. So I twisted two of it, and it become one very gorgeous crown. Unique and cheap!

The Photog and Vids
Videography - Free
Brother will be our videographer (and so is my friend and hubby's friend. It was hilarious! I'll upload if I have time. :p)
Photog - Free
Our friends will be ours photog , and also all the guest are invited to take pix and email it to us!
Tips :
1.  Ask for help.
As nowadays a lot of people have camera, ask them to bring it and snap some pics and take some video!
I have great friends with exceptional talent for photography, and they'll edited the pics and send to us too.
And they willingly take vids too. I only wanted the one during akad nikah, and I have three different versions of it!
Not only it's free, you have a lot of collection too!
But not advisable for the faint hearted.
There will be things that will be missing in the collection. :)

The Decoration
Deco : A lot from my collection, tulles, drapes, netting, sofa I'll take my dad, flowers, so is the pillow, canopy I made myself.
Canopy (DIY) : RM90 for material

Canopy, table, chair, skirting, buffet table and place and else : RM1000--
less than 1000, more than 600. I have a round table, around 10 tables or more with chairs and skirting and all, in purple too!

The table with its skirting. Cute!

Flowers : I bought online, from www.irtrade.com.my and I bought around RM500 for 20 stalks of baby breaths and nearly 450 roses.(18 dozen x 24 = 432, some have extra stalks.)

The flowers

My hand bouquet, made it myself using the roses and some crystal tree I bought ( the same one for the crown :p)

The roses wreath I make as backdrop for the dais

Bantal nikah

Tips :
1. Creativity goes a long way.
I made my own canopy, flower wreath, hantaran, deco, and blah blah blah. Even though my dad wants to find mak andam for make up, bantal nikah and pelamin, I said no, as I can do it on my own and save budget!
2. Research!
I found the flowers online, and it was very cheap. I wanted roses so bad, so I searched high and low for them.
3. Recycle!
I use my dad's sofa, and my mom's cushion. And for the bantal nikah, my dad already have two big pillow, I just bought some nice material and mom sew it. :)

The Cards
I did online cards with password and facebook event for my friends, and I made 200+ cards for mom and dad's friends by using publisher and power point for map
A4 for cards = RM9

The card.

The online card

Tips :
Do it yourself.
There's a lot of tutorial, and you'll save tons. However if the I only printed around 200, so if its like 1000++, better find a shop to print it out for you!
And for tech-savvy, make an online cards! Most of my friends have facebook an access to internet, so I made an online cards and also a facebook events. Life saver!

The Bridesmaid
I have selected 8 of my best bestie however only 7 turns up, and also another three turns up to help. Thanks girls! They wore variation of purple baju kurung as well as a pen with two roses and 1 bag of all the favors.
(pen = rm3.90 for 2)

Before engagement. This is Iem. She came, even though her granddad was hospitalized, and she iron all my dress. Sweet! * she likes making faces!*

This is Feeqa, she have a heart made of gold!
She sponsored all the goodies I gave to hubby, and she make up all the bridesmaid on that morning.
She worry I didn't wear henna.
She's my mummy :p
And she gave a set of dinnerware which is bloody expensive. Gosh.
Thanks Q!

The gift:

Nine hantaran(for him from me) :

I made all the hantaran, except for the book, cake and fruits ( Shak, Echa, Yana, Eme and Mom). For the goodies, Iem and FeeQa adding last few flowers cause I'm doing something else. All are my ideas, and a lot of my friends love the first, second, third and forth hantaran!

1.Sirih Junjung
*the teacup was my gift from my granma, it was 30+ yrs old! My mom gave to my granma and my granma gives it to me. It comes with a dinner set and matching bowl too!

2. Belt & wallet
Everyone loves the stones covered with sort of green mosh. And I told everyone I went to a river and got these stones, they believe me until they touch it. hahaha.

3. Shirt
I made the shirt by twisting it a few times, and making three roses out of a shirt.

4. Watch and Bunga rampai
They adore the most covered basket.

5. Goodies
*Sponsored by FeeQa cause I don't have enough money and it was a day before the wedding that hubby add two more stuff. Grr. *

6. Cakes

7. Shaving set and first aid
*I bought the first aid cause my hubby loves hiking and dangerous stuff, its just a way I told him to be careful. :) *

8. A book

9. Fruits

Seven hantaran (from him for me):

1. Sirih
* I made faces during the akad, and my friends were scolding me. Teehee. Oh yes did you see the sirih junjung there?*

2. Ring, necklace and earrings
* I got two rings, one for engagement that my hubby asked to wear when I'm working, and one for nikah, which my hubby said for functions. And the necklace was my dad gift from UK, and my hubby paid my dad cause he wanna make it as my maskawin. I'm the princess. :) *

3. Watch and perfume

4. Bag

5. Shoes

6. Bath set

7. Cheque for hantaran

* I don't have the picture, this was a day after. See, this is what I'm talking about (refer photos and vids)*
 * My mother in law makes all the set from scratch in just one day. She was so talented! She was sorry she did have more time to make more nicer stuff*

So there you go, from RM10 000 hantaran, I only used up nearly half of the hantaran.
The other half is depend on your choice on whether to buy something for you, your home, or give to your parents.
Mine, I did with nearly 700 people, and all was satisfied with the food and favor bags and the event itself. So, you don't need to have big bucks for grand wedding, it just depends on you. :))

So, total :: RM6739.50++++
Aid : RM3000
With aid :: RM4170.50
