Hey you.
Since I'm doing all my own flowers, so here's a basic guideline how to treat those wholesale flowers.
When you ordered wholesale flowers, prepare to be disappointed.
As you probably have different color that what you wanted, or the delivery is late, or did not come at all, or others.
For me, I wanted 4 lot of baby breath, but I only get 1.
For the flowers, it exceed my expectations.
The colors are gorgeous, and perfectly blend in with the others.
Okay, the flowers that I ordered came in a box, at 1am in the morning, however, I took it the next morning, that is on Friday.
As the flower travel in a box and was wrapped in manila card, the flowers are very thirsty!
Feed it with water + flower food if you have, I used paracetamol or panadol.
You need to do all these steps or even more, to have those beautiful flowers like in florist.
The Flower looks like this, and I put it in basin. Notice I did not take the cover off the flower. Will explain later.
Okay, so what you'll need is :
Water (lots! if not you can get a basin to hold the water. Either running or still water is fine. Make sure the water is cold or you'll speed up the flower's blossoming.
Notice I have two separate basin here?
The big one is to hold the flowers in, and the small one so that I could remove the end of stalk.
Wholesale flowers. Or even from florist. Whichever.
One lot have around 2 dozen, but some of it have like 27 or 28 stalks.
Here is the end of the flowers. This is after one day I put it in a basin. Notice: Please remove the leaves that touches the water or it would turn rotten and affect your flowers.
You'll need a glove. You do not want scratches on your hand before your wedding day. Trust me!
So this is the flower, on my bathroom floor. This is soft pink.
Hold the stalk upwards. Look for any defects. *I'm an engineer, so of course I'll use the engineering terms. haha*
Remove all the leaves the you think will be submerged in the water. However, you can remove all. I did not remove the thorn, as I think the rose's stalk will wilt into brownish color by using scissors.
Put the rose in the basin, If there are still leaves that are submerged, remove them. This is important as it will speed up the blossoming process and turns the water murky. So not the ending you want.
Next, under running water, cut the end of stalk, but make sure it's a bit slanted, so that more water can be absorbed.
Or the second way to do it (that conserve water too) is by cutting it in a small basin filled with water. Make sure it's a bit slanted. In this picture it's not slanted as it is veryyy hard taking picture with one hand trying to cut something. :p
The flowers after removing the leaves and some of the stalk.
After cutting all of it, and give it more than 8hours absorbing water, it will looks like this. And no, the work doesn't end here.
You need to peel of the outer later, some of it may need more than 5,6 petals. Some probably damaged during deliveries and handling, so do not skip this step. Don't worry if it's look smaller, it will absorb more water and blossom beautifully into this babies:
Pretty isn't it?
Well this is for the white creamish one.
For the colored:
Beautiful!
Ah what a sight to see, waking up to these flowers, nodding their approval to me.
Go ahead, you are now free to make what you wish. :))
Tips and Tricks
1. Do not take off the manila card if you do not want it to fully blossom. I only opened for the colored ones, and I did not open it for the whites one. The end result : Tight and just blossoming whites and full, open blossom colored. :)
2. Peel off the outer layer. Some only need 5,6 petals, some may need more. This will ensure your flower look presentable and that the outer is not crushed.
3. Find reputable florist. Some will do all this for you, but some, such as wholesale, you need to do all the hard work.
4. Do not mix those flowers. Some may blossom faster than others, and makes others blossom faster too. Mine is the lavender one. It blossom too fast! But very pretty. Sigh~
5. Cutting the flower slantingly makes it easier to absorbs water. Flowers are very dehydrated after their journey and you need to feed them. Especially roses.
Well I can't think of anything any more. Watch out for others how to from these babies. :)
